9 things that if you did not do on the Amalfi Coast, you wasted it all!

Let's admit it: there are things that have to be made during a trip, there is no excuse. Even more so on the Amalfi Coast, given the extraordinary beauty of this place. And you? Did you do at least these 9 things?

1. Reach the highest places and dominate the ancient Republic.

A long time ago, Amalfi was an autonomous Republic and the people from Amalfi dominated the Mediterranean Sea, creating shipping companies to establish trade exchanges with almost all the known world at that time. What time? Exactly from the 1st September of 839 to the 17th February of 1131. If you knew that this land has been so glorious, would you love dominating it, at least with your eyes? We do love it, so we have chosen some of the most suggestive places on the Amalfi coast where you can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and breathtaking views: Tower of Pogerola (Amalfi), Santa Maria del Bando (Atrani), Tower of Ziro (Scala), Montepertuso (Positano), San Domenico (Praiano).

2. Enjoy the food of the Mediterranean diet and the high-quality local products.

After all these long and spectacular walks, we got hungry! The Amalfi coast is not only sea: it is demonstrated by the local cuisine, which is rich in ingredients of both land and sea. At the restaurants and taverns of the Amalfi Coast let's taste some of the typical dishes, such as: Scialatielli pasta with seafood, squid with potatoes, seafood risotto, Paccheri pasta with shrimps and zucchini, fish soup with croutons, seafood appetizer with octopus and marinated anchovies, cod with caramelized onion, grilled red snapper, provolone cheese roasted between lemon leaves of Amalfi and obviously the pizza in its many versions.
The Amalfi cuisine proposes delicious dishes for vegetarians or vegans too, thanks to the wide variety of greens and vegetables locally produced. We are in Southern Italy and imagination is certainly not missing!
The Amalfi Coast, literally bathed in sunshine for most of the year, features high level productions as fine wines, salami, delicate mozzarella and ricotta cheeses, fresh seasonal vegetables and fruits known throughout the world as the lemon Sfusato Amalfitano.

3. Taste the traditional sweets.

After all these beautiful savory dishes, let's move to the dessert, the great Italian specialty. The Amalfitan pastry makes no exceptions: the Delizia al Limone (lemon delight) of Amalfi, the Sfogliatella (similar to the puff pastry) of St. Rose of Conca, the Pasticciotto of Atrani, the Zeppole (similar to donuts) of San Giuseppe, the Neapolitan Babà, the Melanzane al Cioccolato (aubergine with chocolate), the fresh and handmade ice cream, are a must try: the sin of gluttony is to not taste them!

4. And what if it's me to cook now? Ok, cook.

Let's play the role of an amalfitan chef... why not? All you need is a house with a kitchen and off you go! In Amalfi there are plenty of fishmongers where the fish is fresh every morning, with seasonal fruits and vegetables shops, wine shops and charcuterie shops. Now, how to start? There are many books about the Amalfi Coast cuisine, among our special tips you can find several local recipes too; the hardest part is just to decide the menu!
To anyone who wants to be guided, we recommend a cooking class, right here in Amalfi.

5. See the Amalfi Coast from another perspective: the sea.

A holiday on the Amalfi coast can never be complete unless you change the point of view at least once. How? Moving by the sea. A boat tour along the coast will change your life, with no exaggeration. The point of view is not the only change, in fact, living this beautiful experience with your friends, with your family or with anyone you want with you, will create the unique and unforgettable memories that you will take with you forever, with no doubts at all.

6. Wake up before the dawn to watch the sunrise.

We do not want to be romantic, but we assure you that this is truly an amazing experience that excites even the inhabitants of the Amalfi Coast every day, without pauses.

7. Get lost through the alleys.

Just like when we were children, when playing hide and seek we discovered new and secret places, try to get lost through the alleys of the villages on the Amalfi Coast and all of a sudden you end up in fantastic places! Places scented with the meals that moms are preparing for their families; places decorated with hanging clothes out to dry; places where voices resound speaking an unknown and very musical language: the dialect; safe places, where in the end it's easy to come out, but perhaps with nostalgia.

8. Live a unique experience in nature.

We have already said that the Amalfi Coast is not made of just sea? Yes, already said. Less famous than beaches, but equally worthy of being admired and visited, are all places on hills and mountains that the Amalfi Coast has to offer. From the Ferriere Valley nestled in the mountains of Amalfi and Scala, to the Path of Gods coming down to Positano through the mountains where the view is really divine... be amazed by the wonders of nature on the Amalfi Coast.
